2004 V70 T5 Powersteering fluid capacity

Hullo all,

Afterwards the steering pump started groaning I checked the ps fluid level and plant the reservoir empty.

To be honest I never really checked this reservoir before.

Filled it with the proper volvo fluid and the pump ran proficient again. Even so, when I checked the reservoir a few days later on the level was below the dipstick.

So my question is: Could information technology exist possible the level was then low that the first make full just topped up the system? I put about one/3 of a bottle in there. what is the capacity of this system?

Or do I have a leak somewhere? I did not encounter anything around the supply and return lamp effectually the reservoir nor effectually the pump. I have been checking under the motorcar whenever I parked on tarmac but haven`t seen annihilation dripping down. Does the pentosil create a sheen on wet surfaces?

If at that place is a leak what would be the most obvious location.

Cheers for any assistance/pointers

Ch

Sometimes fluid leaks remain obscure if yous have failing seals in the rack. If you are losing fluid through these seals, information technology tin can accrue within the inner tie rod end bellows. Cheque in there.
On another note, the organisation capacity should be virtually one quart (0.ix liter). Note that Pentosin has some heat expansion, brand sure yous check levels at the aforementioned temperature.
Cheers

Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
Disclaimer: We (very) seldom do that

Well the car has been in for 192k Km service at Volvo Garage (painfull). Paid the bill and then had a wait at the suggested repair/maintenance to exist made. 3700$ in total. I don`t think so.
Some of it is wear and tear and will be done the rest tin can expect.

Well-nigh importantly the rack and pinion does leak and the quote for replacing was 962$ parts and 412$ labour (+tax).

Been looking for indy mechanic for a while but first up was trying Lucas PS Stop Leak (read some posts here). I put in i bottle last friday and although it is still leaking it does seem to go slower. The bottle says information technology usually takes two before it stops leaking so I am keeping fingers crossed.
